EAR NOISE (TINNITUS)

EAR NOISE (TINNITUS)

Ear noise, also known as tinnitus, is the perception of sound within the ears or head without any external source. It can manifest as ringing, buzzing, hissing, clicking, or other phantom noises. Tinnitus is not a condition itself but a symptom of an underlying issue, such as exposure to loud noises, age-related hearing loss, earwax blockage, or certain medical conditions like Meniere’s disease.

Tinnitus can be constant or intermittent, and its impact varies from mild annoyance to severe distress, affecting concentration, sleep, and overall quality of life. While there is no cure for tinnitus, various management strategies exist, including identifying and addressing underlying causes, using white noise machines or hearing aids, practicing relaxation techniques, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Medical evaluation, often by an ENT specialist or audiologist, is essential to determine the cause and tailor an appropriate treatment plan to alleviate the effects of tinnitus and improve the patient’s auditory well-being.
