OPD

OPD

OPD stands for “Outpatient Department,” which is a section of a medical facility, such as a hospital or clinic, where patients receive medical care without requiring hospitalization. In the OPD, patients visit healthcare professionals for diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and follow-up appointments for a wide range of medical conditions.

During an OPD visit, patients do not stay overnight and are not admitted to the hospital. Instead, they receive care, examinations, medications, tests, and advice from doctors, specialists, and nurses. OPD services cover various medical fields, including general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, dermatology, and more. It’s a critical component of healthcare delivery, allowing patients to receive timely medical attention, preventive care, and treatment for both acute and chronic conditions, while also minimizing the need for hospitalization unless more intensive care is required.
